Intensive Out Patient

Virtual-Comprehensive support for pregnancy and postpartum mental health

The Village offers Hawaiʻi’s first perinatal-focused Intensive Outpatient Program for pregnant and postpartum individuals who need more support than weekly therapy can provide but do not require inpatient care.

With three days per week of structured, evidence-informed treatment, clients receive consistent clinical support, peer connection, and skill development to promote stabilization, emotional regulation, and sustained recovery during the perinatal period.

Mondays: 9:30am-12:30pm
Wednesdays: 9:30am-12:30pm

Matresence

Parental Identity (Matrescence)
Exploring identity shifts in motherhood, including changes in roles, values, and sense of self. Supporting integration of who you were, who you are becoming, and who you are beyond caregiving.


Body Image

Addressing body image, pelvic floor changes, and the emotional impact of physical recovery after birth, fostering compassion, acceptance, and reconnection with the body.

Bonding with Baby & Circle of Trust

Exploring secure attachment principles, identifying safe and supportive relationships, and strengthening internal and external “circles of trust” to enhance emotional safety and connection.

Distress Tolerance


ACT-informed skills to increase capacity for distress, reduce avoidance, and respond effectively to intense emotions and postpartum stress.

Self-Compassion


Strengthening self-compassion, nurturing internal safety, and developing a supportive inner caregiving voice through trauma-informed practices

Mindfulness

Developing mindfulness of thoughts and feelings. We explore ACT and DBT-informed practices to increase present-moment awareness, reduce reactivity, and support emotional regulation.

Effective Communication & Nonviolent Communication (NVC)

Developing assertive, compassionate communication skills using Nonviolent Communication principles to express needs, set boundaries, and reduce conflict within relationships.

Lactation Consultant


Guest-facilitated sessions providing compassionate, evidence-based guidance on breastfeeding, pumping, and feeding transitions.

Processing Unmet Expectations

Creating space to process birth stories, unmet expectations, and emotional responses related to pregnancy, delivery, and early postpartum life in a supportive, trauma-informed environment.

Sleep

Understanding sleep disruption in the perinatal period and learning nervous system–based strategies to support rest, recovery, and regulation.

Self Care

Identifying restorative practices that replenish emotional energy, prevent burnout, and support long-term resilience and well-being.

Coping with Anxiety

Learning strategies to reduce the impact of intrusive thoughts, catastrophizing, and anxiety through cognitive defusion and grounding practices.
